We got our first taste of rooftop tent life on our trip to Maui Hawaii in the winter of 2022. From there on out we were hooked and knew we had to have one of our own for adventures back home. In particular, a month-long road trip through the western United States we had dreamed up shortly after getting home from Hawaii.
After countless hours searching the web for an affordable yet high-quality tent we stumbled upon Treeline’s products which checked off all the boxes.
Our excitement heightened further after we discovered that Treeline was a Canadian company and their headquarters was only six hours away from our doorstep, so we went out on a cold November weekend to pick up the Joshua tent.
After we got the tent home it wasn’t until we embarked on this big road trip that we had even spent a night in it. Our first ever sleep in the tent was in Billings Montana and every night from there on out was in a different town or state for 27 nights in total. We went through Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, California, Oregon, Washington, and finally Victoria British Columbia putting on over 12000 km in total.
I must say not one bad sleep was had in this tent. We both felt well-rested and ready for the next day every time. The quick setup and take down time was unbeatable in our situation as every day was fast-paced and we had to get to the next adventure. We spent most days hiking through different National and State Parks from Yellowstone to Zion National Park and everywhere in between. From – 5c to 40c we were elevated and comfortable.
We went into the trip with no real route planned and just a few things we wanted to see along the way and piled up our fair share of priceless memories.
One night in northern California on our way up the coast we were sitting on the beach watching the sunset when a rogue wave came spilling over the shore soaking us and our gear from head to toe we were glad to have the hanging loops on the bottom of the tent to hang all our stuff up to dry. If not for those loops I don’t know what we would have done. That was one feature I haven’t seen on many other tents and I’m sure glad we had them that night.
From hiking Angels Landing in Zion to flying over the Las Vegas strip in a helicopter or hiking the Trail of Ten Falls in Oregon, we knew we always had a bed to sleep in and I thank Treeline for that one!
What we didn’t see coming was the number of kids that couldn’t believe their eyes when they saw a tent on the roof of the car, they loved it and were constantly walking by the site telling their parents that they wanted a cool tent like that one day.
There was a night when the sky was clear and we could see the big dipper through the skylight, something I didn’t think anything of until that moment. All and all the trip was amazing thanks to Treeline. We made jokes about how this might be our first home together as a couple!
